Winter friendly places with fireplaces

Winter has definitely settled in Cape Town with reports of snow on the Matroosburg mountains. Lucky for us we have a fireplace at home to keep warm on these horrific winter nights but staying in doors is not the only way to spend your time during the winter months. I absolutely love winter the cold crisp air and layering fashion wearing thick knits, coats and boots are just a few reasons why I love winter but heading out in the cold can be daunting and no body wants to be all dressed and no where to go. I've listed a few "hot spots" you can visit and unwind by the fireplace with a glass of wine.

Kloof Street House has to be one of the most interesting restaurant’s I’ve been to it has so much character, the dramatic décor, draping, vintage lampshades, chandeliers are just some of the exquisite pieces to marvel at that makes this place so special. Set in a Victorian house on Kloof street the vibe is very social, hip music and warm lighting makes it the perfect set up for a fun night out with friends, I celebrated my birthday there and had such a magical night under the fairy lit garden but would also be the perfect intimate candle lit date night next to the fire place. They also have some amazing winter specials at the moment.

Tokara one of the most beautiful wine farms I have seen they have a massive lounge area with huge glass windows that give you a panoramic view overlooking the vineyard. Its the perfect setting to relax and unwind and get comfortable by the fire place have some good wine and olives overlooking the beautiful views and while enjoying the Tokara experience.

Address: Tokara Wine Estate, off R310 Helshoogte Road, Banhoek Valley, Stellenbosch, 7600

Delair Graff the jewel of the cape winelands. This is one of my top wine farms to visit because of the phenomenal views. They have also extended their tasting room times to 8pm on Friday nights so if you are looking for a romantic or cosy evening out this is perfect winter outing. Huddled up by the fireplace with some delicious hot and soup and wine to warm you up on these cold winter nights.

Lou Lou's Bar

Lou Lou's is another one of my favorite meeting places the dim lighting and cosy set up is just the place to be on a winters evening. I’ve been in love with this place since it opened in 2017. I literally watched this place come to life. The menu prices are not too bad and the food is so good.Their soup is also really delicious, I've tried the tomato soup and literally died but I would also suggest their beef burgers, chicken schnitzel and pastas are also really good. Great for intimate dates and meetings.I like that the music is not too loud and you can actually have a conversation.

Address: 10 Jarvis St, Green Point, Cape Town, 8051

The Hussar Grill Franschhoek

Temperature drops out in Franschook had us in search of a intimate place to have lunch with a fire place we walked all the way down Huguenot road and stumbled on Hussar Grill and found the perfect seat right by the fire place. We had a nice warm welcome by the friendly team on board. They are well known for their steaks and delicious grilled meals.I would recommend a glass of your favorite red wine to go perfectly with these yummy meals.

Address: The Protea Hotel Franschhoek, 33/34 Huguenot Road, Franschhoek, Cape Town, 7690

Harbour House - V&A Waterfront

Definitely worth a visit if you would like sea food this ones for you. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth the splurge. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine and had the best seat in the house next to the fire place. They also have seating overlooking the harbor. This was a spontaneous visit and did not make a reservation but they do get pretty busy and would be best to book just in case.
